A brief introduction of coupling

Coupling is also a kind of mechanical part used to connect the driving shaft and the driven shaft in different mechanisms to rotate together and to transmit movement and torque. Sometimes it is also used to connect the shaft with other parts (such as gears, pulleys, etc.). It is usually composed of two halves, which are respectively connected by keys or tight fits, fastened at the ends of two shafts, and then connected by some way. The coupling can also compensate the offset (including axial offset, radial offset, angular offset, or comprehensive offset) between two shafts due to inaccurate manufacturing and installation, deformation or thermal expansion during operation, and mitigate the impact and vibration absorption.

Most of the commonly used couplings have been standardized or normalized. Generally, only the type and size of the coupling need to be correctly selected. If necessary, check and calculate the load capacity of vulnerable weak links; when the speed is high, check and calculate the centrifugal force on the outer edge and the deformation of elastic elements, and conduct a balance check.

Application scope

Installation and removal

1. Clean the dust on the surface of the installation shaft, and apply a thin layer of lubricant oil;
2. Clean the inner hole of coupling and apply lubricant oil;
3. Insert the coupling into the installation shaft; if the hole diameter is tight, take care not to hit the installation with a hammer or hard metal;
4. After the positioning is completed, first tighten the screws slightly in the diagonal direction with the torque wrench (specified tightening torque 1 / 4);
5. Increase the force (1 / 2 of the specified tightening torque) and repeat step 4;
6. Tighten and fix according to the specified tightening torque;
7. Finally, tighten the set screws in the circumferential direction
8. When disassembling, please carry out under the condition that the device stops completely; loosen the locking screws in turn.
